Why Thugs Flogged Union Of Journalists Chairman
claimed to have the backing of a powerful politician
A state chairman of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) was flogged on Thursday.
SocietyNow.Ng gathered that the victim, Ibrahim Musa Maizare was beaten up by persons said to be political thugs.
Maizare is the Chairman of the NUJ in Zamfara State.
His beating was reportedly over his attempt to stop one of the shops in the NUJ Complex to a campaign office.
The shop – formerly used as a canteen -was said to have been torched by sympathizers of another political party in 2021.
It was left unused since then.

His efforts were reportedly rebuffed by the thugs who went as far as flogging him with branches of a tree.
The NUJ chairman’s assailants claimed to have the backing of a powerful politician- unnamed – in the state.
