Lagos Govt Tells Those Living In These Areas To leave

to help them escape the consequences

The Lagos State Government has advised persons in some listed areas to leave.

The listed areas are Ketu, Alapere, Agric, Owode Onirin, Ajegunle, Alagbole, Kara, Isheri Olowora, Araromi Otun Orisha community, Agiliti, Maidan, Mile 12, Odo Ogun, Owode Elede, Agboyi 1, Agboyi II, Agboyi III.

The Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tunji Bello gave the advisory over possible worsened flooding.

The commissioner urged residents of the area to move to safer places.

The listed areas face a possible worsened flood crisis as a result of their closeness to the Oya Dam.

The Oyam Dam which is managed by the Ogun Osun River Basin Development Authority has started effecting the usual releases of water from the Dam.

The commissioner pointed out that the release of water will worsen the flood situation occasioned by the rain. The advisory to residents of the areas is to help them escape the consequences of an aggravated situation.

The commissioner, however, noted that the Lagos state government is working with the Ogun Oshun River Basin Development Authority to minimize the impact of the release of water from the Oyam Dam.
