Why President Buhari Is Very Happy With NDLEA Boss Buba Marwa
Marwa who holds a master degree in International Relations from the University of Pittsburgh and another in Public Administration from Harvard
President Muhammadu Buhari is exceptionally happy with Mohammed Buba Marwa, the 68yrs old at the helms of affairs at anti-drug trafficking agency, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
Societynow.ng gathered that the President is so happy with Marwa who is a former Military Administrator of Borno State (1990-1992) and Lagos State (1996 – 1999) that he is showing it to all.
President Buhari is said to be very pleased with the great job Marwa who was appointed the chairman of the NDLEA in January 2021 is doing for him.
Marwa who holds a master degree in International Relations from the University of Pittsburgh and another in Public Administration from Harvard University is helping the government to change the narrative of nonperformance.
The Buhari administration is bedeviled with talks that demystify the charm of change – for a better Nigeria – that brought the President to power in 2015 and helped him to secure re-election in 2019, especially in the face of serious security challenges in different parts of the country that have resulted in calls for international help.

But Marwa who hails from Michika, Adamawa state but was born on September 9, 1953, in Kaduna state, is re-igniting hope with the zeal he is prosecuting the fight against drug trafficking and abuse, which have become a menace to society.
The NDLEA under the former military administrator who became the darling of the people of Lagos with life-impacting initiatives such as “Operation Sweep” which reduced crime rates, “Operation 250 Roads” that opened up road networks and enhanced transport situation amongst others has become one of the most efficient agencies of government.
The agency has recorded major arrests and smashing of drug syndicates since Marwa took over as chairman in January 2021.
One of the major achievements of the agency is letting the public know how drugs are smuggled into different homes by minors under the unsuspecting noses of parents and guardians and used openly at public events in the name of eating edibles – cakes, cookies, and the likes.
Caterers and eateries prepare edibles mixed will all manners of “intoxicating drugs” and sell at high prices to minors and interested adults.
NDLEA’s investigation – ongoing – and arrests blew the lid off this damning black market operation heavily contributing to the menace of drug abuse aiding untold vices and insecurity in society.
Societynow,ng gathered that President Buhari is so pleased with the increasing public confidence Marwa is bringing on board with the performance at NDLEA that steps to boost the powers and capabilities of the agency have been taken.
Information at hand revealed that this move is premised on the investigation that revealed the availability and abuse of drugs, which Marwa is passionately tackling with resources at NDLEA is directly linked to increased crime and violent activities defined as insecurity in different parts of the country.
Societynow.ng gathered that an elated President Buhari singled our Marwa and the NDLEA for special praises for the during the recent National Security Council (SEC) meeting held at the Presidential Villa for the commendable performance so far.
Those who are familiar with Marwa who retired from the Nigerian Army as a Brigadier and was at a time the ADC (Aide-De-Camp) to Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant-General Theophilus Danjuma insist that they are not surprised by the kind of efficiency the founder and former Chairman of Albarkar Airlines – operating licenses revoked under controversial circumstances in 2007 – has brought to bear at NDLEA because “his background speaks for its self.”
