Why Osoba’s Men Are Claiming Credit For Amosun’s Senatorial Victory
Charles Oyelesi
There is an ongoing tussle in Ogun state.
And it is all about who is responsible for the victory of Governor Ibikunle Amosun as the Senator-Elect for Ogun Central.
Amosun’s supporters who contested on the platform of rival Allied People’s Movement failed to win any National Assembly seat in Saturday’s general election.
Amosun who flew the flag of All Progressives Congress cruised to a comfortable win.
Societynow.ng gathered that supporters of former governor Olusegun Osoba and the coalition of All Progressives Congress political leaders in the state are currently claiming credit for Amosun’s victory.
‘’We did it to protect President Muhammadu Buhari’s votes in Ogun state’’ is the chant they are singing about town.
Societynow.ng gathered this is especially been hinged on the background that barely four days to Saturday’s election Osoba called a meeting of all loyalists in the state and directed that all candidates of the party be voted for.
‘’Osoba specially pleaded with members in Ogun Central to work for the emergence Amosun as a Senator’’ a source claimed.
Societynow.ng gathered that the initial plan was to engage in a protest vote against Amosun before Osoba held the meeting urging party members to vote for the governor.
‘’That is why you see that he won and all his supporters in APM lost while all other APC candidates won their seats’’ a source insisted.
Societynow.ng, however, gathered Amosun and his supporters are claiming otherwise and insisting the March 9 gubernatorial and state house of assembly election will actually decide who has greater political might in Ogun state.
Amosun, though a member of the ruling party is providing immense support to candidates on the platform of Allied People’s Movement to win elective positions.
