The abuses remain unabated, especially from lovers of culture and tradition. King of fuji music Kwam1 landed into “trouble” with them.

Background.

Dele Momodu, the publisher of Ovation International magazine released a video of conducts by the definition of Fuji music with many appellations – Wasiu Ayinde Anifowose, that he says should be condemned by all.

The legendary Fuji musician was caught on video paying obeisance to the king of Ikate – Elegushi,(a part of Lekki in Lagos) Oba Saheed Ademola Elegushi.

The 45year who also goes by the title identity “Kusenla111” was at the back seat of a white G-Wagon said to be his own.

“Kuuuseeennnlaaa Elegushi ooo..Obaa ti dee…” (Kusenla Elegushi, the King has come…) Kwam1 hailed the King in the delightful voice that has captivated many over the years as he crouched in homage in the video while enthusing the traditional greetings reserved for kings in Yorubaland “Kabiyesiii ooo”.

Kwami Paying Homage to Elegushi

As the Elegushi, regarded as one the richest kings around attended to one of those on Kwam1’s entourage, the “Ade Ori Okin” crooner turned to the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Addulrasheed Adewale Akanbi who was seated at the front seat of the same automobile with the driver.

“Iwo Omo Odo Oba, Omoba ton dun were,” the leading light of fuji music greeted the Iwo king with the ancestral praise reserved for every sons and daughter of his kingdom without any recognition of the throne and went on to ask “ se oye kose oye fun dele koma pemi” …dahun, se koye ki iwo pe awa..” (Are you supposed to bestow Dele (Momodu) a chieftaincy title without inviting me, answer …are you supposed to bestow Dele a chieftaincy title without inviting us).

Kwam1″querying” Oluwo

In querying Oluwo who was squirming and mouthing an inaudible response, KWAM1 adopted the posture of the superior personality in the interaction with Oluwo.

The chieftaincy Kwam1 referred was the recent installation of Momodu and his wife Mobolaji as Aare Tayese and Yeye Aare Tayese of Iwo Land by the Oluwo of Iwo.

Why People Are Angry.

It is known to even a newborn. A king is to be revered, even when the occupier acts undeserving the throne must be given the utmost respect.

And according to historical accounts, the throne of Iwo deserves the utmost respect.

The Iwo throne is one of those with a direct link to that of the roots of royalty in Yorubaland – Ile Ife.

Though history as it that the settlement that birthed the town was put up around the 14th century, the records say the present-day Iwo land (in Osun State) was founded in the 16th century by one of the princes of Ife called Adekola Telu.

The first Oluwo of Iwo is listed as “Parin” who reigned as far back as 1415 to 1505. Oba Abdulrasheed Adewale Akanbi who took the throne in November 2015 is the 16th Oluwo of Iwo.

Oluwo

The throne of Iwo is one of those that have historical significance in Yorubaland. Iwo kings wear bearded crowns from day one.

On the Other hand, the Ikate- Elegushi throne that Wasiu Ayinde revered in the video is a new one.

Oba Ademola Elegushi is the second crowned king of Ikate Elegushi.

He succeeded his father the very diplomatic Oba Yekini Elegush who was the first crowned king of the domain according to records.

According to the checks on Wikipedia “Oba Yekini Elegushi was the first crowned King of Ikate Elegushi Kingdom. Prior to this, he was one of the Idejo white cap chiefs, who were landowners”

Elegushi

However, to be fair to Oba Ademola Elegushi since he became King he has carried himself in a manner that befits his position – just like his father. King Gushi as he is fondly called as brought more prestige to his throne.

Many are not a fan of Oba Akanbi, especially as regards the stories that trended about his collapsed marriage to former queen Chanel Chin.

Interestingly Kwam1 holds the title of Mayegun of Yorubaland – literally one who ensures everything is in order.
