After A Shaky Start, Lagos Kings Elegushi & Oniru Back With Major Power In Presidency

Lagos Kings, Oba Saheed Ademola Elegush, and Oba Gbolahan Lawal are back with major influence in the Presidency.

Oba Elegushi is the King of Ikate – Elegushi while Gbolahan Lawal is that of Oniru – both in Lagos state.

They are two of the favored persons by President Bola Tinubu from the time he was the Governor of Lagos state from 1999 to 2007.

They remained extremely close and beholden to the President who is the architect of their elevated positions.

Information at hand revealed their expectations of how things should after President Tinubu was sworn – in on May 29, 2023, did not go as anticipated when Femi Gbajabiamila took office as Chief of Staff.

Subsequent events reportedly hampered their access to the President according to those in the know.

But the situation has been addressed, thanks to the appointment of Hakeem Muri-Okunola as the Principal Private Secretary to the President.

Like the royal fathers, Muri – Okunola is another highly favored individual by President Tinubu from the time he was Governor of Lagos State.

And the three of them, Elegushi, Oniru and Muri-Okunola remain very close.

Muri-Okunola’s appointment enables him to share influence with Chief of Staff, Gbajabiamila, a development that re-opens direct access to the President for the Lagos Kings.

And it gets better for them.

Muri – Okunola, the immediate past Head of Service in Lagos state is enjoying the backing of First Lady, Remi Tinubu as the new go-to person for vital things relating to President Bola Tinubu. A vantage positioning that comes with tremendous advantage for the Principal Secretary and his “friends”.

When he was the Governor of Lagos state, President Tinubu had four favored persons that he was grooming for leadership positions.

Labeled as the “Golden Sons”, they were a formidable unit of four with far-reaching influence at the time and their positions were Folorunsho “Folly” Coker ( Personal Assistant later Deputy Chief of Staff ), Gbolahan Lawal (Aide-De-Camp), Ademola Elegushi (Special Assistant), and Hakeem Muri-Okunola (Personal Assistant). Coker who is changing the face of the nation’s tourism industry as the Director General of the Nigerian Tourism Development Authority was the acknowledged leader of the pack.
