Pictures: KWAM 1 “Inherits” Subomi Balogun’s Favored Title 6 Weeks After FCMB Founder’s Demise
and is yet to be buried
King of Fuji Music, Wasiu Ayinde Anifowose, better known as KWAM 1 has been named the new Olori Omoba (head of princes and princesses) of Akile Ijebu by revered king, Awujale of Ijebu – Ode (informally as known Awujale of Ijebuland), Oba Sikiru Adetona.
Wasiu Ayinde takes over the title from immediate past holder, Otunba Subomi Balogun.
The death of Balogun, a widely decorated Nigerian and founder the First City Monument Bank, on May 19, 2023 made the title available to be given out.
The celebrated Nigerian died at the age of 89 and is yet to be buried.
The “Olori Omo Oba” title is one of the titles of pride of the late noble and well decorated Nigerian, Subomi Balogun SocietyNow.Ng learned.
Awujale named 66 years old KWAM 1 – who was invested with the title of Mayegun by the late Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi in January 2020 – as the new Olori Omo Oba of Akile Ijebu during the colorful festival, Ojude – Oba on Friday, June 30, 2023.
Added information available to SocietyNow.Ng revealed that Balogun will be buried on July 8, 2023 in Ijebu-Ode but the burial programme starts On July 4, 2023 with a night of tributes at Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos state.
Identifying with Fuji music king also known as K1, the Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun posted on his social media page.
“I congratulate my dear brother, King Ayinde Wasiu Marshall who was pronounced as the new Olori Ọmọ-Ọba of Akilẹ Ijebuland by our highly revered father, His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Sikiru Kayode Adetona – CFR, the Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland.
We are not surprised with such elevation owing to your sterling contributions to the larger society through your kind of music within the entertainment industry.
We rejoice with you and pray God grants you the wherewithal to shoulder this huge responsibility successfully.”
The Governor made the post along with pictures from the event.
The late Subomi Balogun was one of the father figures for Governor Abiodun.
