The talks have been making the round.

Femi Gbajabiamila elected into the Federal House of Representatives since 2003 (18years as a Federal Lawmaker) and currently the Speaker of that arm of the National Assembly is eyeing another position.

Emerging details have it that the 58years old who has held positions of Minority Leader and House Leader of the House of Representatives – in different terms in office – wants to become the Governor of Lagos state.

The talks abound are that the politician who studied Law at the University of Lagos (graduated with honors in 1983) and was called to Bar in 1984 is already in consultation with stakeholders on how to take the position from incumbent Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu,

Sanwo-Olu branded “War General” because of the back-tp-back crisis fate has thrown his way and still managed to keep the state on track is on the second year of his first term in office.

The 55years old whose handling of the Covid-19 crisis and the EndSars issues – including the spate of violence that trailed it – continue to earn him accolades far and near, including presidential commendations is eligible for another term in office, if he chooses to contest societynow.ng gathered.

Sources claim talks of Gbajabiamila’s ambition in the face of Sanwo-Olu’s increasing mastery of governance had been taken with a pinch of salt until recently.

Richard Akinola11, a man with strong connections across different strata blew the lid on the ambition told in whispers.

The legend of the judicial beat and former Editor of a national newspaper (Vanguard) posted publicly “I have been able to gather from different credible sources that Speaker Gbajabiamila is eying the Governorship seat in Lagos. It is his right to so aspire but it would be an uphill task. I won’t say more than that. Save this post.”

The post by Akinola 11 who has researched and published many books on media, national development, and history- made on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 – gave strong credibility to the talks that after some uninterrupted 20years as a Federal Lawmaker, Gbajabiamila’s wants to become Governor of Lagos State.

Akinola 11 who is an Executive Director of the Centree for Free Speech Organization and human rights activist is known to take pride in being found “factual”.

Societynow.ng gathered that the talks around Speaker Gbajabiamila’s interest in the Lagos guber seat are further fueled with how his name continues to pop up in the fierce battle to determine who gets the ticket of his party, All Progressives Congress (APC) for the upcoming Chairmanship election in his political base, Surulere.

The Speaker is alleged to be very interested in who takes over the council in order to have control of his primary base for the gubernatorial ambition among other political gains of having such a hold on his locality.
