Why Insiders Say Gani Adams Needs To Perform “Spiritual Exercise” At Ooni Of Ife’s Palace To Be A True Aare Ona Kakanfo

Custodians of culture and traditions have made a startling revelation.

Gani Adams still has an outstanding spiritual exercise before he can be seen in their circle as a true Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland.

Insiders disclosed that this spiritual exercise otherwise called ritual in certain quarters has to take place at the palace of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi.

Insiders insist that the spiritual exercise should have been done before the ceremonial installation of Gani Adams as the Aare Ona Kakanfo at the palace of the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi.

The information at hand revealed that it is very correct that it is the Alaafin that installs an Aare Ona Kakanfo but it is a two-way thing behind the scene.

“The part the Ooni plays in the affair is downplayed and known to only those versed in culture and tradition and those very close to them. The chosen candidate for the position of Aare Ona Kakanfo performs a spiritual exercise at Ife for the process of his installation to be complete.” Societynow.ng learned.

Historically and culturally – Ife and Oyo are the two major pillars of Yoruba land with monarchs of different reigns in the two kingdoms known to engage in wars of who is more relevant.

Societynow.ng gathered that Gani Adams was informed of the required spiritual exercise at the palace of the Ooni of Ife but chose to play along with Alaafin of Oyo who did not incorporate it into the installation process because of what sources labeled “obvious reasons”.

“The disclosure of the Ife’s angle is without interest in what manner and depth of spiritual exercises carried out to install Adams as Aare Ona Kakanfo” Insiders insist.

The Aare Ona Kakanfo is one of the most coveted titles in Yoruba land, it was given to the number one war general in the old Oyo empire. In modern times the holder of the title is expected to be at the forefront of the promotion of the interests of the Yoruba home and abroad as done by late legendary philanthropist and martyr of the nation’s democracy Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola better known as MKO Abiola and others before him .
