Though he was well past the average mortality age in Nigeria – 53 years – the demise of Otunba Subomi Balogun, the founder of First City Monument Bank (FCMB) at 89years has been labeled “unexpected” and “Shocking” by insiders.

“He was as keen about his health as his celebrated dressing and was on a routine trip abroad for his medical check-up where he died ” SocietyNow.Ng gathered.

SocietyNow.Ng gathered that the fastidious dresser traveled to London about two weeks ago as “hale and hearty” as his age -taking very good care of his health.

“He didn’t travel abroad sick as speculated by some, he traveled by himself, unaided, and was expected to be back as usual in a couple of weeks” SocietyNow.Ng learned.

“I still find it hard to believe he could leave us so soon,” a source said about the definition of fine living who breathed his last on the morning of Friday, May 19, 2023.

A noble Nigerian and a widely celebrated Banker, Subomi Balogun took pride in his titles of the “Olori Omoba” (Head of princes and princesses) in Ijebu-ode, Ogun state, and the Asiwaju Onigbagbo (Leader of people of faith – Christians).
