Why Govt Ordered Ogun Club Shut Down, Slammed With N10m Tax Fee After Hosting Ladi Adebutu

The government of Ogun state has slammed a ten million naira tax fee on Ijebu Ode Club.

The move made by the Ogun state Internal Revenue Service also ordered the closure of the place of leisure and social networking situated along Stadium road, Ijebu Ode Ogun state until the stipulated fee is paid.

According to correspondence to the management of club dated September 20 and signed by the agency chairman Adekunle M Adeosun, the N10million tax fee is the period of 2014 till 2016.

The correspondence indicated the development a follow-up to earlier communication between the club and the government agency.

But information monitored on news breaker, LagosHerald revealed that the ordered closure of the social club and letter of a N10m fine came less than a week after the facility hosted opposition party gubernatorial aspirant Ladi Adebutu.

Adebutu reportedly held an interactive session with various youth groups in the state some three days before the September 20 letter.

Societynow gathered that since news of the development hit town, it has assumed political coloration.

Members of the opposition party are claiming Governor Amosun is clamping down on those who identified with opposition figures – while the issue of unpaid tax for 3years is left out of the narrative.

“Why is that it was after Adebutu hosted his political event at the place that the tax debt was dredged up and the place ordered shutdown?” is the poser renting the air.
