Why Folly Coker’s New Project Casa45 Is Talk-Of-The-Town In High Society

Something is stirring again in Lagos’s luxury scene — and those who know, know. Folorunsho Folarin Coker, the man whose name is synonymous with high-end hospitality and cultural reinvention, is back with a new venture that already has the city’s elite whispering. It’s called Casa45 — an afroluxury experience conceived in partnership with Ahmed Uhwubetine, the legendary founder of Club 1145.
For insiders, this is more than a collaboration; it’s a reunion of two creative forces who once defined Lagos nightlife. Their joint project, fusing the elegance of Coker’s LaCasa heritage with Uhwubetine’s nightlife pedigree, is being described as “a merger of superpowers.” And with its launch timed to key into this year’s Detty December celebrations, the air of expectation couldn’t be thicker.
But in classic Coker fashion, the details remain shrouded in mystery. The exact opening date is still a closely guarded secret, while speculation over its location somewhere in Victoria Island has added an element of intrigue that keeps high society talking. “It’s as if the secrecy itself is part of the luxury,” said one Lagos socialite. “Everyone wants to be first through the doors, but no one even knows where those doors are yet.”

Casa45 is rumoured to be the largest entertainment and lifestyle destination within the Victoria Island ecosystem — a haven designed for Ultra High Net Worth Individuals, international jetsetters, and what insiders call “the aspirational elite.” With plans for a rotating restaurant menu featuring signature Nigerian dishes served round the clock on weekends, the space promises to blend cultural sophistication with contemporary indulgence.
Discretion, culture, and secure luxury sit at its core, insiders say. And it’s not hard to see why expectations are sky-high. Coker’s track record in redefining Nigeria’s tourism and entertainment landscape speaks for itself.
As Lagos Commissioner for Tourism, Arts, and Culture under Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, he launched the One Lagos Fiesta in 2015 — a bold citywide celebration that democratized access to entertainment across all five divisions of the state.
That initiative would go on to inspire what is now famously known as Detty December — the annual festival season that places Lagos on the global entertainment calendar and draws crowds of returning Nigerians and tourists each year.

Coker’s trajectory after public service was just as impactful. His appointment as Director General of the Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC) in 2017 — later restructured as the Nigerian Tourism Development Authority (NTDA) — saw him open new frontiers for public-private partnerships, pushing Nigerian tourism into a new era of professionalism and visibility.
When he exited the NTDA in March 2025, Coker seemed content to watch from the sidelines. But that silence, it now appears, was preparation for something grander. Casa45 has become his re-entry into a world he helped shape — and perhaps his most ambitious project yet.
Now, with whispers growing louder about its unveiling during the December festivities, Casa45 is fast becoming the most talked-about development in Nigeria’s high society circles. For some, it’s a statement of legacy; for others, a return of Lagos’s golden touch. Either way, as the city gears up for another festive season, one thing is clear — all roads, and conversations, lead to Casa45.
