Why Alaafin Of Oyo Dares Any King To Challenge Him Amid Plans For Celebration Of 50th Anniversary On The Throne

The Alaafin of Oyo Oba Lamidi Adeyemi has dared any king to challenge in the face of plans to celebrate his 50th anniversary on the throne.

The celebration comes up on January 14, 2021.

Oba Adeyemi’s challenge to any King’s in Yoruba is in regards to grumbling and contradictions of his accounts of the history of the Yoruba people, especially on his self named social media platform.

Alaafin’s through his handlers posted on, Thursday, October November 5, 2020, “The Alaafin had said “if any there is any King who is in dispute, they can come forward rather than using surrogates because politics and social media hypes will not change our history or alter the place of the Alaafin as the “King of the Yorubas.”

This assertion contradicts history regarding the throne of the Ooni of Ife in the history of the Yoruba’s.

The post released by Oba Adeyemi’s handlers with the header “THE TRUTH IS SACROSANCT AND INCONTROVERTIBLE” (with capital letters for emphasis) further stated

“It is nothing but attention seeking and face saving to come arguing on this page about the contents on this page. What you read on this page is empirical data and no King in Yorubaland has ever personally faulted them. “You can’t be more Roman Catholic than the Pope,” kings are the custodian of culture, tradition and history, if anyone is in difference, kindly wait for your turn to ascend the throne if your forebears.”

The Alaafin started open preparation for his 50th anniversary on the throne of his father in the last days of October 2020.

The event expected to be a multiple-day event has become “the talk of the town”.
