The Talks have refused to die down, that Abimbola Ashiru the former Bank chief is best positioned to emerge as the next Senator representing Ogun – East.

This is despite the move by former Governor Gbenga Daniel to declare interest in the Senatorial seat currently held by Ramoni Lekan Mustapha.

Societynow.ng’s checks revealed that Daniel’s move in declaring interest in the Ogun East senatorial seat has pitched him against those who care about the political future of Governor Dapo Abiodun.

Abiodun is said to be eyeing a second term in office and Daniel’s move may jeopardize the ambition because they come from the same zone.

“They are both from Remo, political positions in Ogun East are shared between the Remos and Ijebu. That is the rule in that axis” societynow.ng learned.

Societynow.ng gathered, the fact that Governor Abiodun is from Remo while Senator Mustapha is from Ijebu is very telling of how things operate in Ogun-East.

“So, in a twist of fate Daniel’s move has actually made talks Ashiru – who is from Ijebu – is better suited to become next Senator in Ogun East more popular among supporters and sympathizers of Governor Abiodun” societynow.ng learned.

The checks by societynow.ng, however, revealed that, unlike Daniel who went public with strong hints of interest in the Senatorial position, Ashiru has refused to be drawn into the talks.

Bimbo Ashiru also address as “Bims” by friends currently represents Ogun State on the Board of Directors of Odu’a Investment Company Limited, the strategic investment and asset management firm owned by Oyo, Ogun, Osun, Ekiti, and Ondo states.

Further digs by societynow.ng revealed that the closest the 57year old former Bank Director has come to speaking on the raging talks was when he reportedly told friends “What will be, will be”.

Ramoni Lekan Mustapha the Senator whose seat is the subject of “forecasts” about who will take over is believed not to be interested in another term in office.

Dapo Abiodun, Lekan Mustapha, Gbenga Daniel, and Bimbo Ashiru are chieftains of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
