Colleagues are making effort to secure the release of Chiwetalu Agu, the actor arrested in “Biafra Attire”.

Agu, 65, was arrested yesterday, October 7, 2021, by the Nigerian Army for sensitizing pro-Ipob sentiments and allegedly recruiting for the proscribed group.

IPOB stands for Indigenous People of Biafra, an association that holds the eastern Nigeria by the jugular in a vicious fight for regional autonomy.

Agu was arrested in a dress with all the colors of the Biafra land as well as the famous “rising sun”.

He has spent a night in the custody of the Nigerian Army which accused him of actions negating attempts to bring peace to the region.

Agu claimed he was just sharing “N10,000 worth of bread”. He denied the accusation against him.

In the face of the calls for his release by colleagues, Actor Yul Edochie has revealed efforts being made by the association.

Edochie posted “I have gotten into with the President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Emeka Rollas @emekarollas to discuss how to secure the release of Uncle Chiwetalu Agu and to be sure he’s safe and sound.
Which I feel is the most important thing now.

He assured me that he is in contact with the Nigerian Army division holding Uncle Chiwetalu, that Uncle Chiwetalu is safe and ok as well and will be released soon.
It is well.
