It appears re-election seeking Babajide Sanwo-Olu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has a new main opponent.

Jide Adediran, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate popularly known as Jandor appeared to have been edged out by Gabdebo Rhodes- Vivour of the Labour Party (LP) as Sanwo-Olu’s strongest contender.

The Presidential election win by the Labour Party in Lagos gave Rhodes – Vivour the soar that has turned him into the face of all those against APC in Lagos state.

It is turning out to Rhodes-Vivour’s advantage that he left the PDP to become LP gubernatorial candidate after Jandor who left the APC to become PDP gubernatorial candidate refused to make him Deputy Governorship candidate.

“Those who felt slighted by Jandor picking actress Funke Akindele over Rhodes-Vivour – and other decisions that affected the party – are now rallying the LP gubernatorial candidate who now appears a surer bet with the Presidential election win by LP in Lagos” SocietyNow.Ng gathered.

The LP secured a shock win with 582, 354 votes while APC came second with  572,606 votes and PDP placed a distant third with 75, 750 votes.

LP’s presidential election victory associated with talks of intense tribal positioning and protest votes is now being boosted with strong claims of possible political alliances among parties against APC with gubernatorial candidate Rhodes – Vivour as chief beneficiary ahead of the March 11, 2023, gubernatorial election in Lagos state.

The most affected in the emerging scheme is the PDP gubernatorial candidate Jandor SocietyNow.Ng gathered.

The original pillars of the PDP in Lagos state who brokered the agreement he spurned to make Rhodes – Vivour the PDP gubernatorial candidate are said to be strongly backing the LP candidate and using Jandor’s background as a former APC member against him.

“And they are hitting him hard and using the numbers of the presidential election in Lagos (LP- 582, 354 votes, APC – 572,606 votes, and PDP –  75, 750 votes.) to get more people from his camp to their sides” SocietyNow.Ng gathered.

There are unconfirmed claims that the fingerprints of the original pillars of PDP working against Jandor are also on LP’s victory in the Presidential election held in Lagos.
