After a while, influential politicians Gbenga Daniel and Ibikunle Amosun made a new public appearance on Saturday, October 12, 2024.
They were guests at the funeral service of the Iyaloja-General of Ogun State, Mercy Temitayo Owolana.

It has renewed unceasing claims—which ebbed when they stopped appearing together in public—of collaboration to determine the next governor of Ogun State.
They own two of the three strongest political structures in the ruling party in Ogun State.
Insiders continue to insist, “All things being equal, whoever they back has a very strong chance of becoming Abiodun’s successor.”
This is amid unverified assertions the immediate past Senator from Ogun Central (Amosun) and the incumbent Senator from Ogun East (Daniel) are inching very close to :adopting” a gubernatorial aspirant.
Dapo Abiodun will end his constitutionally allowed two-term tenure as the governor of Ogun on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on May 29, 2027.
