Talks Swell Dapo Abiodun’s Main Man Is Preparing For Election
The talks milling around the political circle of Ogun
Although those close to him insist that he has no political ambition the talks have continued to swell that Governor Dapo Abiodun’s main man is preparing for an election.
The talks milling around the political circle of Ogun state have it that Tokunbo Talabi, the Secretary to the State Government in Ogun state is planning for an election.
“He is going through the motions, has more visibility in the grassroots, and increased rapport with political leaders. The talks are that something is in the offing” according to insiders.
But checks revealed that despite all the talks, Talabi credited with the blueprint that helped Governor Abiodun imprint his footprints on governance so far, is not linked to aspiring for any specific position.

Findings revealed that outside of the position of state lawmaker widely ruled out because of his status before and after he became the Ogun state SSG, Talabi who is from Ijebu North in Ogun East has the positions of Federal House of Representatives, Senate, and Governor to vie for – if he is interested.
Except something extraordinary happens, political calculation has ruled the position of Governor out of his zone. Abiodun, on the last of a constitutionally allowed second term in office, is from the same zone as Talabi -and based on informal arrangement, the next occupier of the gubernatorial seat has to come from another zone.
The Ogun East senatorial seat is occupied by Gbenga Daniel, a former two-term Governor of Ogun state and owner of one of the most formidable political structures. The Senator is at odds with Governor Abiodun.

Senator Daniel won his election to his present office with record-making votes in 2023 and is sure to seek another term in office.
The House of Representatives seat in Talabi’s Federal constituency is occupied by a loyalist of the Governor.
Like Talabi, all the present occupiers of the listed positions are members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
While the talks continue to grow, those close to the SSG insist – there is nothing like that.
