…How taunts, jest over recognition in upcoming council poll is fuelling situation

Fight for supremacy by party men Ladi Adebutu and Kashamu Buruji has spilled over.

The supporters of the two leaders of Ogun state People’s Democratic Party have picked up the gauntlets in support of their patrons – and verbal skirmishes on the streets are said to be on.

Kashamu a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and Adebutu a member of the Federal House of Representatives have been at each other for a while over control of their party structure in Ogun state.

At stake is said to be the gubernatorial ambition of Ladi, the son of wealthy lotto boss Kessinghton Adebutu.
The fight between the two major players in Ogun PDP has degenerated to the point of backing different factions of executives for Ogun PDP.

And supporting opposing camps at the national level.

The fight which has erupted into open allegations of betrayal and threats to life appeared largely confined to the two major players despite earlier reports.

”But the situation is speedily changing” a source disclosed.

Societynowng.com learnt messy fight is further oiled by reports of recognition given to the Sikirulai Ogundele led state executive by the Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC).

According to the details that current trend, the OGSIEC has adopted the list of candidates submitted by the Ogundele led Ogun PDP led executives in the upcoming local government election in the state.

This is against attempts by the Bayo Dayo led camp to secure same recognition.

The Ogundele faction is backed by Ladi Adebutu while the Bayo Dayo side enjoys the support of Kashamu Buruji.

Societynowng.com learnt since the announcement hit town, supporters of Adebutu have hit town in joyous praises of the political mastery of their principal that has resulted in ”bloodied nose” for his rival.

”They have been taunting and making jest of Kashamu and his followers about town…and the butts of their mockery are not taking it laying low” source claimed.

Sources claim verbal skirmishes between supporters of the two sides are on here and there.

And the rivalry is said to be becoming more intense on the streets by the day- with talks of possible violent clash(es) strong.

”The state electoral body angle has turned the supremacy battle between the two leaders personal for their supporters…the followers are the ones seeking to occupy the positions at stake in the upcoming council elections and enjoy the inherent benefits if possible” an insider explained reasons possible out break of violence between the two sides.

Societynowng.com learnt though there are those seeking to douse the tension, seek a compromise and harmonise efforts at giving rival party All Progressives Congress a good fight in the upcoming council poll – the chances of this happening in the face of what is on ground is adjudged ”extremely unlikely” by those who should know.
