Senatorial Ambition Pitches Abiodun’s Men Against One Other

Two strong loyalists of the Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun are engulfed in a major political tussle.
At stake is the Ogun Central senatorial seat currently occupied by immediate past Governor Ibikunle Amosun.
Amosun is decorated with talks of a Presidential ambition.
SocietyNow.Ng gathered two of Governor Abiodun’s men eyeing the position are immediate past Senate Lanre Tejuosho and Salisu Shuaib Afolabi, the Chief of Staff to the Governor.
Tejuosho, the son of Oba Adedapo Tejuosho occupied the Ogun Central Senatorial position between 2015 till 2019.
He vacated the position -without a say in the matter – for Amosun to take over in 2019 and pitched his political tent with Governor Abiodun in a show of anger.
Abiodun and Amosun have been engulfed in a make-or-mar political fight pre-2019 gubernatorial election.
SocietyNow.Ng gathered Tejuosho is emboldened to seek a return to the Senate based on the presidential talks decorating Amosun.
But he faces strong contest from Chief of Staff Shuaib.
The Chief of Staff is passionately interested in becoming a Senator.
SocietyNow.Ng learned that Salisu Shuaib was “compelled” to step down for Tejuosho to become the candidate by party leaders (defined as then-Governor Amosun) for the 2015 election.
Though Tejuosho was closer to Amosun as commissioner, SocietyNow.Ng gathered, that Shuaib who was a deputy chief of staff in the former Governor’s administration was seen as a better grassroots politician.
“But he obeyed Amosun’s directive and stepped down for Tejuosho to become Senator” SocietyNow.Ng gathered.
But the table is turned. Salisu Shuaib is one of the three most influential persons in the Government of Abiodu who heads the camp that Tejuosho also belongs.
The information available has it that who gets the Ogun Central senatorial ticket in the Abiodun camp is a straight fight between the two.
There are, however, strong hints that the odds favor Salisu Shuaib who is right in the middle of all the vital political decisions of the present administration in Ogun State.
