The Chief of Staff to the Governor of Ogun State, Alhaji Shuaib Afolabi Salisu, has announced the postponement of the wedding reception ceremonies of his children.

The reception programmes of his sons, Taslim Olawale Salisu and Hanif Olakunle Salisu were earlier scheduled to wed on Saturday, 4th April, 2020.

In a statement released on Friday in Abeokuta, Alhaji Salisu said that the postponement becomes necessary due to present threat to public safety and health, occasioned by COVID-19 pandemic and the need for all to fully comply with laid out measures of government and health authorities, aimed at combating the ravaging virus, including social distancing.
“Individual programmes and preferences must be subservient to overall public good. And those in privileged positions must lead by examples,” the Chief of Staff said.

He enjoins all to adhere strictly to all the guidelines to curtail and contain the spread of the virus, particularly personal hygiene and social distancing.

Furthermore, he applauds Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, MFR, for the various initiatives of the state that have successfully minimised the spread of the virus despite the state being the industrial hub of the nation.

He appreciates the goodwill, felicitations and prayers of all, and further requests everyone to keep the families and the couples in prayers.

A new date for the reception programmes will be announced as soon as the situation becomes conducive.

In supplication, Alhaji Salisu beseeches God to protect all from corona virus, and indeed, every other affliction. He prays for healing and speedy recovery for the sick and those burdened by coronavirus (COVID-19).
