Senator Gbenga Daniel Takes Higher Ground In Quarrel With Gov Abiodun

Senator Gbenga Daniel has glaringly changed the tone of engagements in his raging quarrel with Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun.

“Let it be issue based, most especially with family members not involved ” his recent conduct screams SocietyNow.Ng gathered.

The Senator representing Ogun East made the elevated stance public during the burial of the master banker, Otunba Olasubomi Balogun.

While the Governor and the Senator dodged each other throughout the days of burial activities and took the snubbing to photographs taken and posted on media platforms by their handlers, – except on the singular occasion the former Governor’ s team ate the humble pie -, Daniel refused to accord the same treatment to Bamidele, the wife of Governor Dapo Aiodun SocietyNow.Ng learned.

The former two-term Governor of Ogun state – 2003 to 2011 – not only took pictures with Bamidele Abiodun and featured it on his personal platform, but also spotlighted pictures of his wife, Olufunke in a warm embrace with the Governor’ better – half.

The happenings took place during the Wake Keep for the classic style founder of First City Monument Bank (FCMB) on July 7, 2023 at Tunwase Court, Ijebu-Ode, Ogun state.

Governor Abiodun did not return the gesture throughout the burial activities for the noble Nigerian that ended on Saturday July 8, 2023.

Daniel has been getting feathers in his cap for what many branded “exemplary move”.

The Governor and Senator – members of the same political party, All Progressives Congress (APC) – are engulfed in a supremacy tussle insiders claim there appears no end in sight.

SocietyNow.Ng gathered that the crisis started over the doings – and non doing – of Governor Abiodun after Daniel joined hands with other political heavyweights to win him his first term in office in 2019. Their fallout transformed “irreparable” with accusations the Senator contributed to the near-loss suffered by the Governor in his bid for a second – term.

The result of the election that gave Abiodun a win with less than 14,000 votes is the subject of litigation instituted by Oladipup “Ladi” Adebutu, the gubernatorial candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the March 2023 Ogun state gubernatorial contest.
