Real Reasons Former Ogun Council Chairmen Are Being Investigated

All the former council chairman in Ogun state are being investigated.

SocietyNow.Ng gathered that the probe focuses on all financial transactions undertaken under their watch.

Further revelation has it that an external body was set up to check their books and submit the report to the Ogun State House of Assembly to act on.

“The House of Assembly checks the spending of the Local Governments under the past chairmen based on a report submitted by an external auditor” SocietyNow.Ng learned.

The added information available to SocietyNow.Ng, however, revealed that the investigation also looks into the involvements of civil servants in the financial transactions of interest to the investigators.

The Ogun State House of Assembly is expected to sanction anybody indicted in the investigation based on the recommendations of the House Committee in charge of oversight function of local goverments.

“But it is a routine payment check done on spendings of immediate past chairmen of local governments in Ogun state” SocietyNow.Ng gathered.

The clarification downs claims in some quarters that Governor Dapo Abiodun has special interest in the move.
