Popular Prophet Israel Oladele Ogundipe is finally out of prison – after getting a post conviction bail.
The popular prophet better known as Genesis was granted bail on health grounds pending the hearing of the appeal against his conviction.
Ogundipe secured bail on Thursday April 1, 2020 but did not get out of prison until yesterday, April 9, 2020.
Sources attribute the delay in his release to the cold feet developed by one of his sureties.
The surety reportedly failed to leave up to expectations based on pressure from friends and family over the risk involved if anything goes wrong.
The Surety would be liable of the popular prophet fails to stick to the terms of release from custody.
Ogundipe sentenced on November 18, 2020, in a trial for romance fraud that spanned about thirteen years.
He was handed a two years imprisonment term – a year each for the counts he is found guilty of but to run concurrently – and incarcerated at the Kirikiri Medium Security Correctional centre located in Apapa, Lagos state.
He is has initiated an appeal against his conviction.
