Powerful Politician In Trouble Over President Buhari’s Campaign Funds

A powerful politician is in big trouble.

And the source of his trouble is said to have roots in the funds used for the campaign that brought President Muhammadu Buhari to power.

The politician – a former Governor – was said to have handled huge money donations that funded the election.

Insiders disclosed to societynow.ng that the powerful politician’s problem stemmed from his inability to “account” for all the donations that helped his new party defeat an incumbent backed by a party in power for all of sixteen years (16years).

“In fact, there was no accounting after the election” a source stated.

Societynow.ng gathered that immediately after the All Progressives Congress won the Presidential election the popular politician, decorated with the tag of very instrumental to the formation of the party, carried on like he expended all the donations – even added personal funds.

“He leveraged on the euphoria of the win and subsequent scramble for political power to avoid accounting for the campaign funds” a source told societynow.ng.

Insiders further disclosed to societynow.ng that the action tainted his perceived “massive” contribution to the emergence of Buhari as president.

The development is said to have served as the foundation for a ravaging persecution of the “powerful politician”.

He is alleged to have extraordinarily ripped off the party with the unaccounted campaign funds.

Insiders disclosed to societynow.ng that, this is one of the reasons the powerful politician has decided to stay put in the party despite “humiliating” actions against him.

“He knows there is already a corruption plot against him, and unfortunately for him, many of those against him donated or brought big money donors to the campaign funds he handled” a source told societynow.ng.

Insiders explained how the embattled politician became the unofficial campaign funds handler.

“In order to protect Buhari’s Mr. Integrity tag, a buffer was needed between him and big money donations rolling, so all donors were subtly directed to the powerful politician. Words spread and he became the go-to person for all donors” another source told societynow.ng.

Societynow.ng further gathered that damning allegations over the “unaccounted campaign funds” is now being held over the head of the powerful politician.

Sources claim though he appears to have suddenly found new life as another presidential election beckons, the reality is that things have turned worse for him.

The pipeline into campaign funds handling is no more and those with detailed allegations of his alleged misadventure have turned very bitter enemies.

“And he now lives daily with the dread of possible public exposure in a manner that would spectacularly blow his image to high heavens” a source stated.
