In Ogun state, the fight for the control of the ruling party – All Progressives Congress – is more intense.

And it has become a straight fight between Senator Ibikunle Amosun and Governor Dapo Abiodun.

Aremo Olusegun Osoba has been relegated to the background as the fight became more intense societynow.ng learned.

Insiders confirmed that Osoba’s ”non-confrontational posture” in the fight for relevance knocked him out the deep seethed struggle to determine the leader of the APC in Ogun state.

Sources disclosed Amosun, who is the immediate past governor of Ogun state, is laying claim to the position at the federal level government and within the top echelon of the APC in national politicking.

Amosun makes his stake riding high on extraordinary closeness to President Muhammadu Buhari.

Governor Abiodun has taken hold of the party structure at the state level and installed his loyalists into key positions.

While Amosun has embedded himself into the national politics of the APC as the party leader in Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun is entrenching himself as the man in charge in the state.

Societynow.ng gathered that Governor Abiodun is also asserting himself as the party leader in Ogun state based on the golden rule in the APC that incumbent governors take charge of the party in their states.

Amosun was the party leader in Ogun state in all his eight years reign as Governor.

The further checks made by societynow.ng, however, revealed that Amosun wants to retain control as party leader after he vacated the office of governor of Ogun State in the bid to mirror the happenstance in Lagos state.

”Former governor Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains the party leader in Lagos state years after he left office, so why can’t Amosun retain the same position” a source stated rhetorically.

The details available to soietynow.ng, however, revealed a huge difference in the politics of Lagos and Ogun states.

”Asiwaju Tinubu has determined who occupies the office of governor of Lagos state since he left office and the occupants ”joyously” ceded the position of party leader to him but in Ogun state, Amosun vigorously campaigned against Abiodun but failed to stop him from becoming governor of Ogun state and Amosun has not stopped working against Abiodun since then, so why should Abiodun cede such a vital political position that should naturally come to him to such a passionate enemy” another source put things in context.

Societynow.ng learned that as things stand Abiodun and Amosun are engulfed in behind the scene war of influence to determine who outwits the other in the cold war to determine party leader while the supporters take one another over the development on the street and social media.
