Society lady of endearing entrepreneurial skill Bola Shagaya is in the news.

She is currently tagged the eyes and ears of former president Ibrahim Babangida in the presidency.

Hajia Shagaya Bola Muinat Shagaya derives her current robust stature in the corridors of power from her closeness to Dame Patience Goodluck, the wife of President Goodluck Jonathan.

A pointer to her intimacy with the first family was her alleged listing on the close knit entourage of the

cut short Lebanon cum Dubai trip by Dame Patience (allegedly for facial surgery and jewellery purchase) on assumption of office of her husband as President and the alleged United States of America Jamboree in the name of attending world leaders summit not too long ago.

Sources are however of the opinion that her true loyalty lies with former military president Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida.

Her association with Brigadier General John Shagaya (rtd) former minister for Internal Affairs during the regime of Ibrahim Babangida made her close to the Babangidas. The retired Brigadier General remains a staunch supporter of IBB.

It is generally believed that her ex husband’s association with the Babangidas had given Hajia Shagaya great leverage with the family and transformed her into a confidant of late Mariam Babangida.

Insiders however revealed that it was actually her closeness with former National Security Adviser and presidential hopeful, Aliyu Gusau that cemented her ties with the Babangida’s- the chord is yet to be broken.

Informants claim her current hobnobbing with President Goodluck and his wife is to the advantage of the IBB camp.

She is alleged to be providing them with insightful hints on how to manoeuvre in the ongoing power play over who control the presidency in the coming political dispensation.

Though those close to her attribute the growing information to the handiwork of her opponents- information has it that her closeness to the first family and influence in the corridors of power is on the wane due to the speculation..

They alleged that the allegation has started making confidants in this circle to be cautious with her.

Reaction to the story in a phone chat, the alluring business woman explained the development as ‘untrue’. She clarified that she doesn’t have anything to do with politics that she is strictly a business woman. She maintained she doesn’t have anything to do with who takes charge of the affairs of the country or not.
In her words ‘you know people just say what they like. The story is not true. I am not a politician- I am a business woman. And I still enjoy good relationship with everybody- that is why they all came for my son’s wedding’
