Where is the Ooni of Ife? Or where is the remains of the Ooni of Ife? These were the Adewunmi Sijuade
questions on people’s minds over the weekend when his son, Prince Adegbite Adewunmi Sijuwade celebrated his traditional wedding/engagement to popular TV girl, Dolapo Marcy Oni.

The colourful ceremony was dampened by the conspicuous absence of the revered Yoruba monarch. Prince Adegbite was supported at the event by his mother, Olori Morisola Sijuwade and the Asiwaju of Ife, Chief Oyekunle Alex-Duduyemi. On the bride’s side, her parents, Chief Olatunde and Chief (Mrs) Oluwaremilekun Olowu, a former Director-General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) were there.
As expected from a wedding of royals, many royal staffs of office came there to support the occasion and it was also attended by the cream of society.

It was not only Ooni that was absent, his eldest son, Prince Tokunbo Sijuwade was also nowhere to be found at the Landmark Event Centre venue, a situation that has further fuelled speculations about the true state of things in the Sijuwade Household. The Church ceremony has been slated for October 10, 2015 in London.
Meanwhile, contrary to media reports that the remains of Ooni had been brought to his palace from the United Kingdom, the chief priest of the ancient town, Oba Olajide

Farotimi Fatoba, on Sunday, said the story is untrue.

He said the issue of receiving his remains or keeping it in a secluded place inside the palace did not arise, stressing that such development was completely out of place.

According to him “If the rumour is true, we should be the one to announce it. We are the owner of our culture, Obaship in Ife kingdom is sacred and should be handled as such,” he said
