Ogun 2023: Talks Amosun & Gbenga Daniel “Working” Together Surface

Former Governors of Ogun State Gbenga Daniel and Ibikunle Amosun are working together for the 2023 election according to emerging talks.

SocietyNow.Ng gathered that though Amosun has openly declared he will be working against the re-election of Governor Dapo Abiodun, the gubernatorial candidate of his party, All Progressives Congress (APC) – the former Governor will be working for the election of his predecessor as the Senator for Ogun East.

Amosun, the outgoing Senator for Ogun Central has adopted Biyi Otegbeye of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as his gubernatorial candidate.

SocietyNow.Ng’s checks revealed that some of the former Governor’s men are also contesting on the platform of the ADC after Abiodun sidelined Amosun and his followers in the APC based on a winner-take-all supremacy battle that went his way.

Information at hand revealed that Amosun adopted Otegbeye – who was also an APC member and gubernatorial aspirant on the party for the 2023 election – after a meeting initiated by APC Presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu failed to make Abiodun “share party and elective positions” with the former Governor.

“It was agreed that Amosun should find an alternative political platform to take care of followers as long as it doesn’t go against the APC bid for the Presidency. And all stakeholders agreed to work for Asiwaju Tinubu to be elected as the next President of Nigeria but adopt preferred ways to protect their interests in Ogun state” SocietyNow.Ng learned.

Information at hand revealed that Amosun went on to have another arrangement with Daniel not to work against his interest as APC Senatorial candidate in Ogun East.

“Amosun agreed that his loyalists both in APC and ADC will work for Daniel to be elected as the next Senator for Ogun East” SocietyNow.Ng gathered.

SocietyNow.Ng gathered that this move decorated by other unconfirmed agreements is supposed to see Daniel provide a return favor by backing Amosun’s burning wish to make Otegbeye the next Governor of Ogun State.

“But Daniel’s position is unclear. Though he is at odds with Abiodun over some issues, other factors at play are limiting his involvement with Amosun. Abiodun and Daniel are from the same Sector (Ogun East) and micro-region (Remo) in Ogun state. Daniel will have a lot of explaining to do to leaders on why he denied his kinsman a second term working hand-in-glove with people from outside the area, especially Amosun the immediate past tow-term governor.

Another thing is that Abiodun’s men in the Remo division are ferociously putting up an open show of support for Daniel’s senatorial ambition and doing everything possible for the former governor to be seen as siding with them” SocietyNow.Ng gathered.

Information at hand, however, revealed that playing a major role in making Daniel’s actual position unclear is his regular political play. He has not openly committed to any of the sides.
