Obi Cubana’s Detention Takes Unexpected Twist
The word about town is that he is being questioned on allegations bordering on tax evasion and money laundering.
The detention of Obinna Iyiegbu, the owner of the chain of businesses known as the Cubana group has taken an unexpected twist.
It has adopted ethnic coloration.
Obi Cubana – as he is famously known – was invited for questioning by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) yesterday, Monday, November 1, 2021.
He has remained in the custody of the anti-corruption agency.
A #freeobicubana campaign was by his friends, associates, and fans when the news hit town.
The campaign has taken an unexpected twist with suggestions Obi Cubana is being targeted because he is Igbo.
His biggest cheerleader and business associate Pascal Okechukwu is also fanning the ember of this sentiment.
Okechukwu better known as Cubana Chief Priest wrote on social media “What doesn’t kill us makes us stronger, we Igbos are used to this. #freeobicubana.”
Wiping up anti-Igbo sentiments created IPOB (Indigenous People of Biafra), the proscribed group viciously advocating for the separation of the Igbos from Nigeria.
