“Not Even Started” – Gbenga Daniel Lists Achievements As Ogun East Senator

Senator Gbenga Daniel says he has “not even started” as he lists his achievements since he took office.

The former Governor of Ogun provided the details on Sunday, October 20, 2024.

The “report card” reads…

“My service to my people in Ogun East Senatorial District so far

I was elected Senator on 25th February 2023 and sworn in on 13th June 2023.

As we all know, the roles of a modern legislator include lawmaking, oversight, and representation, and my work has adhered to these principles.

Over the past year, I have submitted 11 bills and one motion to the Rules and Business Committee, many of which have passed the second reading.

Notable bills include the South West Development Commission Bill, the Federal College of Aviation Technology Bill, and the Terminal Illness Trust Fund Bill.

“On 5th July 2023, I moved a motion titled “Urgent Need to Intervene in the Flooding Issues in Sagamu and Ijebu Areas of Ogun East Senatorial District, Ogun State.”

This led to the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) visiting the affected areas and providing palliative materials.

In my oversight role, I participated in 15 Standing Committees, contributing to regulating the Senate’s procedures and investigating national issues.

My notable committee assignments include Chair of the Senate Committee on Navy and Vice Chair of the Senate Committee on National Identity & Population.

“For effective representation, I established fully functional Constituency Offices in Abuja and Sagamu.

I appointed special advisers, constituency supervisors, and coordinators to ensure communication and engagement with my constituents.

Through these offices, I facilitated employment opportunities for my constituents in various federal ministries, departments, and parastatals, including the Nigerian Navy, Nigerian Police Force, and the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security.

My achievements also include numerous community projects, such as the renovation of Otunba Gbenga Daniel Model School in Sagamu and Omu Ajose Comprehensive High School in Odogbolu, as well as the installation of motorised boreholes in ljebu Ode and Abobi, Ago Iwoye.

Additionally, I conducted medical outreach programmes, distributed fertilisers, and provided training and empowerment for farmers and youths.

“Through my dedication to legislative duties and community development, I aim to set a benchmark for impactful governance and remain committed to the betterment of the Ogun East Senatorial District.

And we’ve not even started.”
