A former governor from 2011 to 2019 and a two-time senator for Ogun Central, Amosun maintains one of the state’s most formidable political structures, with networks that extend beyond the South-West.

Those in the know said that while the birthday event will steer clear of formal declarations, it is widely viewed within political circles as part of a broader positioning — particularly as national actors quietly reassess trusted allies amid shifting alignments.

With top-level sources saying there are strong indications that former Governor Ibikunle Amosun will be handling a lot of back-channel activities for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 election.
