Likely Replacement As Gov Amosun Risks Losing APC Senatorial Ticket

There are indications the governor of Ogun State Ibikunle Amosun is on the verge of losing the ruling party All Progressives Congress senatorial ticket.

Insiders disclosed Amosun’s plan to return to the Senate at the expiration of his second term is in serious trouble.

Governor Amosun previously occupied the position between 2003 and 2007.

And he is currently the holder of APC ticket for Ogun central.

The slot was taken away from Lanre Tejuosho.

Lanre is the son of prominent monarch Oba Adedapo Tejuosho the traditional ruler of oke – ona in Egbaland (Abeokuta).

Information filtering in revealed the plot to deny the incumbent governor the senatorial ticket is in top gear.

And Championing the move are former governor of the state Aremo Segun Osoba, APC gubernatorial flagbearer in Ogun state, Dapo Abiodun, sources told societynowng.ng.

Those in the know disclosed the plan is being worked out in collaboration with Adams Oshiomhole the national chairman of APC.

Oshiomhole and Amosun have been on each other’s throat over the outcome of the controversial APC gubernatorial primary that knocked out Adekunle Akinlade, Amosun’s choice from the equation.

Akinlade has since moved to a less popular party Allied People’s Movement – with a number of Amosun’s loyalists in and out of government.

Sources attribute reasons for the move to take away the senatorial ticket to the pronouncement credited to the governor on Monday – December 3, 2018 – that he would not support his estranged friend and APC gubernatorial candidate, Dapo Abiodun’s governorship ambition.

The Buhari Media Organisation, a campaign group for the re-election of President Muhammadu Buhari had reacted to the claim credited to Amosun with strong calls for the APC to take away his Senatorial ticket.

Available information has it that Lanre Tejuosho and Abisola Sopido, wife of elder statesman Edwin Clark are among the likely replacement.

Mr Abisola Sodipo-Clark recently dumped PDP for APC and has since declared support for the Hyden Petroleum boss, Dapo Abiodun’s ambition.

Tejuosho has been working publicly with Abiodun against the wishes of Amosun since he lost his senatorial ticket to the governor.
