Lagos Sitting On Keg Of Gun Powder As Transport Union Leadership Crisis Escalates!

If care is not taken, an eruption of violence might be witnessed in different parts of lagos state as supporters of warring leaders go after each other in transport union’s worsening crisis.

Societynowng.com learnt outplayed state executive members Musiliu Akinsanya (MC Oluomo), Mustapha Adekunle (Seego) and Kunle Ojora (Kudeleti) have mobilised their supporters and scuttled swearing in of new cabinet under the leadership of retained state chairman, Tajudeen Agbede.

Information filtering in revealed that the development transpired on Monday October 19 2015 when new state cabinets of the National Union of Road Transport Workers were expected to be sworn in nationwide.

Informants disclosed the state secretariat on the Union in Abule Egba was placed ‘under heavy lock’

Sources disclosed Agbede and his 23 members shifted the venue of their swearing in acting on information of planned attempt to disrupt proceedings by the ‘other side’.

‘’they announced Excellence Hotel Ogba as the new venue but it didn’t happen there as well’’ an insider divulged.

Societynowng.com learnt acting on another round of ‘intelligence reports’ by moves by the ‘other side’ , Agbede and his co travelers finally moved to his hotel in Oke Ira, Ogba Lagos state.

Findings by societynowng.com revealed those referred to as ‘Other side’ made up of MC Oluomo, Seego , Kudeleti as well as their supporters and silent backers are currently claiming victory for scuttling the swearing in of new NURTW state executives and insisting the status quo remains.

They are making a fight back on the premise that as a recently appointed Financial Secretary of the national executive of the transport union Agbede lacks the eligibility to retain position as state chairman.

‘they are agitating for the election of a new chairman..that according to their constitution once a state officer gets appointment at the national level, he ceases to be a state official..and remember Oluomo is already campaigning for that position, it was his ambition that cost the trio their positions on the state exco’ another insider divulged.

Information pieced together by societynowng.com revealed that as far as the Oluomo camp is concerned whatever happened at Agbede’s hotel after failed attempts at the Union’s secretariat and Excellence hotel was just ‘’harmless merriment’

Societynowng.com however learnt on his part, Agbede believes he has been returned, along with new executive members and is said to be ready to exercise his renewed functions.

‘what we have here is a volatile situation…two union factions laying claim to same powers and functions and ready to prove their point….if care is not taken, it will not be long before this battle for control is taken to the streets, the bus stops and garages and what happens next?’ a concerned observer with inside knowledge queried.

National President Najeem Yasin is said to be having it tough bringing the matter under control because of his perceived partial and backing Agbede.

It is instructive to note a similar tussle between Oluomo and former NURTW boss Rafiu Olohunwa resulted in spiralled out of control crisis and violence until reported intervention of powerful politician, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu brought calm and sanity to the transport Union.

Some are said to have mooted the idea of involving him in the current situation as well before the innocent start getting caught in web of about to erupt violence.
