Emerging details have it that before the last-minute switch that transformed former commissioner Gbolahan Lawal into the new king of Oniru, the domain of high-value businesses and premium real estate in Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu had given the go-ahead on favorite, Hakeem Ajasa.

Societynow.ng gathered that Tinubu told Ajasa and his people to go and prepare for the installation ceremony. The powerful politician reportedly told them in Yoruba ‘’Elo ra aso ebi sugbon, e ma fi foto si ooo’’ (go and buy aso ebi – clothes to be worn by guests – but don’t put a picture on it).

Pictures of the celebrants – in this case, a king – are usually emblazoned on Aso-Ebi chosen for historical occasions to serve as memorabilia.

According to fresh details available to societynow.ng, Tinubu who has a great say in who becomes what in Lagos state told the governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu – one of his makings – to issue official letter making Ajasa the new king of Oniru.

Insiders disclosed that, even, the main challenger Aremo Adesegun Oniru, the heir of the immediate past king, Oba Abiodun Oniru had agreed to step down for Ajasa.

‘’Ajasa really came close to becoming the new Oniru, everything changed barely twenty-four hours (24hrs) to his getting the government’s letter of appointment’’ societynow.ng learned.

‘’He became collateral damage in a political game of high-stakes’’ insiders insist.

‘’He was sacrificed to protect the presidential ambition of Asiwaju Tinubu based on the ferocious push of those plied pressure on the political leader that enthroning Ajasa on such a vital landscape is immensely empowering those working against his burning ambition’’ societynow.ng gathered.

Ajasa is alleged to be too close for comfort to Rauf Aregbesola, the minister of Interior alleged to be positioning himself as a viable option to Tinubu ahead of the 2023 presidential race – he has denied such talks and pledged loyalty to ‘’ mentor’’ Asiwaju Tinubu.

Ajasa – a serving Police Officer – was the head of Aregbesola’s security team in the 8years (two terms of four years each) the latter served as the Governor of Osun State.
