Inside Details Why Tinubu Is “Afraid” Of Banire’s Appointment As AMCON Chairman

The behind -the- scenes have started coming to the fore.

And this is regarding the matter concerning attempts to scuttle the appointment of Muiz Banire as chairman of Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria.

The move is, reportedly, being orchestrated by Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Societynow.ng learned that before the joint protest by Senators representing Lagos state – against the Senate’s ratification of the appointment- a more extreme attempt had been made against Banire.

Societynow.ng gathered that there was an initial attempt to “ambush” the appointment with an unfavourable security report.

Sources disclosed moves were made to make the State Security Service issue an unfavorable security report against Banire, but the plot didn’t pan out.

“It was after this that all disguises were discarded and the Senators from Lagos openly protested against the ratification of the appointment by the Senate” societynow.ng learned.

“But unfortunately for them, just like the behind the scene, it didn’t work out because the appointment isn’t tied to you must be from Lagos, rather it given out based on presidential discretion taking into consideration competence” a source surmised.

Further digs revealed why Asiwaju Tinubu and his co-travelers are “hell-bent” on scuttling Banire’s appointment as AMCON Chairman.

“Because a lot of economic intrigues are buried very deep in AMCON, and for someone who knows where to look and how to get things buried deep down, a lot of interests would be threatened” societynow.ng learned.

Banire is an expert In property law amongst other things.

And the Senior Member of the Bench, with his uncompromising stand, has already hurt the political clout of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as immediate past Legal Adviser of the ruling All Progressives Congress.

The former Lagos commissioner stuck to the party’s rule book, and refused to bend backward to allow Asiwaju get his way in retaining or expanding political clout.

“The fear is that his movement to AMCON would dole out the same treatment to the economic might of Tinubu,” Societynow.ng learned.

The Tinubu’s camp sees Banire – a former valuable asset – as one of the major players out to take away the power of “national leader” of the ruling political party.

Tinubu is engulfed in a power tussle with a group of his former followers, who are backed with the massive resources of his political opponents, is the word in the political circle.

“Tinubu and his loyalists see appointment of Banire as AMCON Chairman as another major move to take him out in the power game” societynow.ng sources disclose.

Multiple sources insist Tinubu is fighting hard against Banire becoming AMCON Chairman because, while fighting hard to retain political control, the corpses of threatening economic issues believed buried- and done with – are the last things the popular politician is looking forward to confronting.
