I Am Confident Your Tenure Will Take Our Party To Greater Heights – Adebutu Hails New PDP Chairman Turaki
commended Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde for hosting the convention
Ladi Adebutu, serial gubernatorial candidate and one of the strongest political forces within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State, has congratulated Kabiru Turaki on his emergence as the new National Chairman of the party, expressing optimism that the new leadership will steer the PDP toward a revitalised and more formidable future.
In a social media narrative regarding the conclusion of the party’s Elective National Convention at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan, Adebutu described the event as “a memorable and historic day” for the PDP, noting that it reaffirmed the party’s resilience and unity despite past internal tensions.
He commended Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde for hosting the convention and praised the Ahmadu Fintiri-led National Convention Organising Committee for delivering a seamless and orderly exercise that drew participation from governors, leaders, stakeholders, and rank-and-file members across the country.
Adebutu said the emergence of Turaki and other newly elected national officials marked the beginning of a new phase for the party. He expressed confidence that the new leadership would work in tandem with reform-minded figures to reposition the PDP as a credible alternative in Nigeria’s political landscape.
“I congratulate Dr. Kabiru Turaki (SAN) on his well-deserved victory. I am confident that his tenure will take our party to greater heights,” he said. “What we witnessed in Ibadan is not just an election—it is the rebirth of the PDP. As Governor Seyi Makinde rightly stated, this convention will go down in history as the one that ignited a true turnaround for our great party.”
Adebutu described the atmosphere at the convention as a reflection of renewed hope, unity of purpose, and a shared commitment to rebuilding the PDP ahead of future electoral contests. He added that the collective efforts of members, leaders, and organisers demonstrated the party’s readiness to return to the frontlines of national relevance.
With Turaki now at the helm, Adebutu urged party members to rally behind the new executive team and sustain the spirit of cooperation that defined the convention.
“The journey ahead requires collective sacrifice and loyalty. With this new leadership, I believe firmly that the PDP is back on the path of restoration, strength, and victory,” Adebutu said.
