Barely three days to the much anticipated March 9 gubernatorial and state house of assembly election, there appear to be very serious concerns in the camp of Jimi Agabje the gubernatorial candidate of the People’s Democratic Party in Lagos state.

‘’Agbaje appears to be working against his own interest’’ a source stated.

Societynownow.ng learned that the campaign team of Agbaje is currently riddled with distrust initiated by the gubernatorial candidate.

‘’Agbaje does not appear to trust people with key functions regarding the election and he insists on handling vital roles himself, especially when it comes to issues relating to funding’’ a source stated.

Insiders disclosed that this development has greatly reduced the involvement of those considered to be major players in the party in Lagos state in Agabje’s campaign.

‘’Away from the ferocious social media noise, major stakeholders within the party are not as committed to the campaign as they should be. Agbaje’s hard stance of taking critical decisions and overseeing vital responsibilities, especially that have to do with funding has pushed away some very major political supporters’’ societynow.ng.

The do-it-all alone stance of the gubernatorial candidate is said to be making the campaign overwhelming for self and very few people he sees as trusted insiders.

‘’He is laying the foundation for own defeat because social media popularity does not translate into votes and those he needs to grind out the votes are feeling pushed away by his perceived lack of trust in their abilities to get things done’’ a source disclosed.

Though those to close to Agabje defend the gubernatorial candidate with the claim that what is seen as lack of trust is actually cautiousness borne out of past experiences.

Agbaje is a serial gubernatorial candidate in Lagos state and has always come up short against the backers of his main opponent Babajide Sanwoolu of the ruling All Progressives Congress.

‘’Agbaje is just putting the lessons of past campaigns into play in his present endeavour’’ a source defended the candidate whose popularity on the social media has made the ruling party very jittery.

‘’Agabje has a strong chance of winning, taking into consideration the margin between the votes of his party and that of the ruling party in the Presidential and National Assembly election in Lagos state but he needs to ensure all hands are on deck in his campaign team to steal victory not this talk of lack of trust and related issues spilling out’’ a source asserted.
