Sunday, October 18, 2020, many worshipers at Living Faith Church Worldwide International, the christian ministry founded by Bishop David Oyedepo better known as Winners Chapel experienced a very trying time.

EndSars protesters held one of their protests at Obasanjo junction, a part of the expressway that provides the only access to and from Canaanland, the international headquarters of Winners Chapel in Ota, Ogun State.

Societynow.ng gathered that this development resulted in massive traffic jam that stretched beyond the horizons of the eyes on both sides of the expressway, and the hinter roads.

“It was hellish..a lot of people regretted plying that road on Sunday” societynow.ng learned.

EndSars Protest but not Ogun State

Sources disclosed that the gridlock caused by the protesters forced many people in commercial vehicles, and Okadas (commercial motorcycles) to trek long distances.

Some church-goers missed their services completely societynow.com learned.

Canaanland houses Faith Tabernacle, the over fifty thousand capacity church that plays host to five services – about one hour each – on Sundays.

To ensure a free flow of traffic on Sundays, the Church deploys some of its members to man the expressway, particularly at spots with link roads.

This effort is usually complemented by the presence of traffic officers including the officers of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).

‘’But the strategy did not bail out motorists from the gridlock imposed by the presence of the #EndSars protesters at Obasanjo Junction for several hours on Sunday” societynow.ng learned.

Societynow.ng gathered that the protest started as early as about 9.00 a.m at the place on Sunday.

According to information available to societynow.ng, the bulk of Winners Chapel worshipers at Canaanland troop in from neighboring Lagos State.

“The church provides about 300 buses – owned and hired – to bring its members to church within and outside Ogun state, add this to the numbers of worshipers who bring their vehicles, those that don’t go to the church plying the road for other reasons and you get an idea of what happened on Sunday when the #EndSars protesters created the gridlock” a source offered.
