Double Trouble As Lagos Speaker Gets Invitations From Two Other Anti- Corruption Agencies, Appears Before One

There are strong indications that the storm of corruption allegations rocking the world of the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa is nowhere near going away- but getting stronger.

Information at hand revealed that while the embattled speaker is yet to get out of the clutches of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), two other anti-corruption agencies have issued invitations to him.

Societynow.ng gathered that the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission has invited Obasa.

“The speaker is yet to appear before the ICPC which is acting based on petitions” societynow.ng learned

Insiders also disclosed that the Code of Conduct Bureau also issued an invitation to the Speaker.

Societynow.ng gathered that unlike the case of the ICPC, the embattled speaker has appeared before the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) and scheduled for a re-appearance.

The main function of the CBB is to ensure accountability in government business.

While the ICPC is set up to “receive and investigate complaints from members of the public on allegations of corrupt practices and in appropriate cases, prosecute the offenders”

The ICPC and CCB are said to be looking into similar allegations against Obasa that the EFCC is investigating.

The EFCC is probing accusations of diversion of funds, inflated expenses, and general abuse of office, particularly corrupt enrichment against Obasa.
