The genesis of the political trouble afflicting the Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa has been revealed.

Sources attribute it to an unintentional action by Governor Rotimi Akeredolu.

“Akeredolu rather unknowingly started the chain reaction of the political troubles threatening to unseat Aiyedatiwa” SocetyNow.Ng learned.

Insiders disclosed the Governor declared too early that he wanted the Deputy Governor to succeed him.

Akeredolu first made the declaration openly immediately after they were sworn in on Feb 24, 2021, insiders say.

Sources disclosed that the Governor repeatedly made this assertion to show seriousness of purpose.

“And unfortunately put the Deputy Governor in direct collision against those who are willing to do all it takes to put one of their own as the next Governor of Ondo State” SocietyNow.Ng gathered.

And Aiyedatiwa has been suffering the repercussion of Akeredolu’s indiscretion.

Things have gotten so bad that both Aiyedatiwa and Akeredolu are no longer at ease with each other – thanks to the relentless dark campaigns against the Deputy Governor.

It has not helped that ill-health has limited what Akeredolu can do while the Deputy Governor refuses to fight dirty or jeopardize his personal relationship with the Governor.

“Naturally Akeredolu was making the assertion to strengthen Aiyedatiwa’s status but didn’t foresee the prolonged illness that vastly limited his powers and functions” SocietyNow.Ng learned.

While the Governor was sworn in for a second term in February 2021, the Deputy Governor was taking office for the first time.

A development that gives him the opportunity to serve a single term as Governor of Ondo state if he gets the chance.
