Gov Oyetola, Aregbesola Engage In Fresh Face Off

Another round of discord is on between the executive governor of Osun State Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola and his predecessor Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, investigation carried out by societynow.ng has revealed.

The bone of contention centres around the list of commissioners that would work with governor Oyetola as members of the state executive council, an inside source disclosed.

Former governor Rauf Aregbesola wants to single handedly determine who makes the cabinet, a source stated.

According to information available, the Osun state helmsman is at moment resisting the attempts.

Earlier report by societynow.ng indicated Aregbesola moved to make his son, Kabiru, the chief of staff to governor Oyetola who resisted the plot.

Mr Charles Akinola, also a close ally of Aregbesola eventually got the position.

Kabiru Argbesola is the ex governor son behind the infamous “Opon Imo” (tablet of knowledge) project in his father’s administration.

“We have information Aregbesola has compiled list of commissioners and advisers he believes should be part of the governor cabinet. I am aware the governor has rejected the list… And this causing serious friction between the two of them”, an insider explained.

The governor is said to have maintained the stand he should have say in choosing people that would work with him.

And this one of the major reasons governor Oyetola is yet to constitute his cabinet, an insider maintains.

This is expressly the fourth battle the duo would be engaging in since the inception of Oyetola’s new administration, societynow.ng understands.

They reportedly flexed muscle on the state assembly speakership and ministerial slot former governor Aregbesola just cornered against the wish of the incumbent.

Governor Oyetola reportedly rooted for Shittu Amitolu, a technocrat and indigene of Osogbo the capital of Osun State – against his former boss’ interest.

Also Mr Aregbesola had his way on the assembly speaker seat as his kinsman and loyalist Timothy Owoeye emerged winner against incumbent Governor Oyetola’s choice.

Honourable Lekan Olatunji who represents the the people of Ife North was governor Oyetola favoured candidate for the position.
