Gbenga Daniel’s New Picture Sparks Fresh Talks
And it is generating intense discussion
The minders of the Senator representing Ogun East, Gbenga Daniel, have released a new picture of their principal.
The picture is an e-campaign for a second term, emblazoned with the tag: Re-Elect! Re-Elect! RE-Elect! RE-Elect!
Designed as a poster, it has the header “One Good Term Deserves Another!” and the words “Vote For 2nd Term.”
And it is generating intense discussion against the background of Daniel’s face-off with Governor Dapo Abiodun.
Abiodun is said to be interested in taking over the Ogun East Senatorial seat.
“The theme of the talks trailing the new picture is that OGD (Otunba Gbenga Daniel), by this move, is declaring that he will not back down from returning to the Senate—even if it means jumping ship,” observers say.
The picture was released over the weekend.
Daniel is a former two-term Governor of Ogun State who contributed to Abiodun becoming Governor in 2019.

Their rapport has since transformed into open opposition despite being in the same political party—the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The Governor won a second term by a slim margin in 2023, accusing the Senator of working against him.
Daniel denied the accusation, urging the Governor—who tried to stop him from becoming Senator because of alleged interest in the position—to make himself more acceptable to the people.
The two have since become embroiled in an intense cat-and-mouse political game, with Daniel—through his minders—going public with claims that Abiodun is plotting to take over his seat, while the Governor has kept a sealed lip.
Before he became a member of the ruling APC, Daniel was the face of the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State and at the national level.
He is the owner of one of the four most formidable political structures in Ogun State.
