Oba of Benin, Ewuare11 says he is not happy with the turn of the campaigns ahead of the Saturday, September 19 Edo Gubernatorial election.

The revered monarch expressed his feelings at the peace meeting he called for the resolution of conflicts at his palace on Wednesday, September 2, 2020 between the main challengers as well as other stakeholders in the bid to ensure a peaceful election.

The major actors at the peace meeting include Comrade Adams Oshimhole- the former national chairman of All Progressives Congress( APC), Osagie Ize-Iyamu- the gubernatorial candidate of the APC who crossed over from rival People’s Democratic Party(PDP), Godwin Obaseki – the reelection seeking Governor of Edo state who defected to the PDP from the APC to achieve his ambition, Philip Shuaibu – Obaseki’s Deputy who defected with the Governor to PDP and retained his spot and all other stakeholders in the political fight and John Oyegun – Oshiomhole’s predecessor as APC National Chairman.

Oba Ewuare11 warned that he does not want to hear talks of shooting, guns anymore.

‘’Philip (Shuabu) they say you are the tough one inside?, You must behave please’’ Oba Ewure said at a point in his talk and continued

‘’Tell your boys, if it is you, tell your boys to cease fire that your Baba has told you to cease fire, enough is enough. I don’t want to hear shooting guns anymore, enough is enough, you don’t have to kill your selves because of office because office will be there, life will be there. Even if you don’t win, there will be something greater that God will do for you, must it be a do or die affair, please we are all worried’’

In the course of his peace talk, the hugely respected monarch also revealed that things have generated to the level that Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu gave him some assurances for peace to reign but failed to stick by them.

The monarch who commands fierce loyalty in his domain while speaking on the relationship between all the major players disclosed that ‘’ It started generating to the point that Even Philip that gave me some assurances was going against his own assurances, he was not honoring his own assurances to me. He knows what I am talking about and I am not happy about that. You don’t say things to me and you go against it.’’

The respected monarch made this move in the face of violence rocking political campaigns by the two main challengers Obaseki and Ize-Iyamu ahead of the September 19, 2020 Edo Gubernatorial election.
