Embattled Oluwo Of Iwo, Adewale Akanbi Swallows His Pride, Accepts Suspension By Osun Monarchs
Eniola Ajayi
After initial huffs and puffs, embattled traditional ruler the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Adewale Akanbi has accepted to abide by his suspension by the Osun State Council of Traditional Rulers headed by the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi.
The council of traditional rulers suspended Oluwo for six months for assaulting another monarch, the Agbowu of Ogbaagba, Oba Sikirulai Aderopo.
Oluwo who initially claimed he acted in self-defense against the Agbowu later recanted his admission and labeled the suspension by the council of traditional rulers in Osun state as ‘’audio’’ (lacking substance).
Oluwo in series of public antics insisted that the council can no suspend him and tagged the decision of the Council of traditional rulers the result of bile against – amongst other things – his swagger.
But after all the public posturing, the Oluwo has accepted the suspension order.
In a statement signed by his chief press secretary, Alli Ibraheem, and reproduced in part on premiumtimesng.com the Oluwo stated “The Oluwo in council regrets the unfortunate incident that transpired between the Agbowu of Ogbaagbaa and Oluwo of Iwo last week. We will also like to put it on record that the Oluwo did not at anytime assault the Agbowu or any other oba for that matter”.
“However, we respect the decision of the Osun State Council of Obas to suspend the Oluwo from council of Obas meetings; though the suspension was harsh and undeserved, the Oluwo will abide by it”.
“Once again we express our gratitude and respect for the council of Obas and the leadership under the imperial majesty, the Ooni Of Ife, Babatunde Enian Ogunwusi”
The checks made by societynow.ng, however, revealed that Oluwo did not post the statement pride that deflates his pride on his social media handle.
