Ekiti Governor, Kayode Fayemi, Wife, Bisi In Public Fight At Mother’s Burial Ceremony
The Governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi and his wife, Bisi were the subject of curious stares recently.
The event was the burial ceremony of the Governor’s mother- Late Mrs Dorcas Fayemi.
The location was Isan Ekiti State.
Happenstance occurred at the reception.
Witnesses at the May 18 2012 occurrence divulged that at a point in the hosting, Governor Fayemi and his wife were spotted ‘acting coldly towards each other and staring offensively at one another’
The deputy governor was twice spotted calming the governor down and Dr Fayemi was overheard at point querying the Deputy Governor ‘so I should go and beg her?’
And the latter replied ‘just let her be’. They conversed in Yoruba language.
The conversation was held inside the hall of the event- while the wife refused to come in.
It is believed the altercation that lead to the public show of hostility transpired inside Governor Fayemi’s home (during the interment)- very close to the hall.
Unlike in the earlier part of the ceremony that she was cospicous as the chief hostess- the first lady’s role at the occasion was said to have diminished to all time low after the episode.
She virtually refused to enter the hall.
Followers of events relating to the lifestyle of the Ekiti first family claims such interaction between husband and wife are common.
The reason is traced to antics of the first lady to always have her way- even in official matters.
Mrs Fayemi later came into hall to mingle with guests in a subdued manner- but not before she was spotted ‘thanking’ the deputy governor for her intervention.
Among dignitaries at the ceremony that witnessed the public display of hostility are Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, Gov Abdul Fatai Ahmed, Mr Bisi Onasanya, Gov Rotimi Amaechi, Mr Alex Otti, Gov Ibikunle Amosun, Aremo Segun Osoba, Gov Tunde Fashola and others.
