Edo Lawmakers Shun Oba Of Benin’s Intervention, Resumes In House Fighting!
Lawmakers in the Edo state house of assemble have finally shunned the intervention of revered monarch, Oba of Benin Omo n’ Oba Erediauwa for peace to reign amongst them and in the state in general.
The highly respected monarch had waded into the crisis rocking the state assemble last week- and hosted all stakeholders to a truce meeting at his palace.
An accord of sort was attained and all parties agreed to sheath their swords.
Sitting was adjourned from midweek last week till this week for the truce to be perfected.
The reputable monarch’s intervention played a major role in the shift and many believed it had put an end to the erupting violence.
But that turned out a false expectation.
On Monday June 23 2014 (yesterday) a free for all erupted even without a sitting place.
Sources confirmed acting on a tip off, security operatives prevented any form of entry into the assemble complex.
The free for all of yet to be ascertained immediate cause reportedly saw some lawmakers cloths torn and others sustained injury.
The ongoing crisis that has attracted court case, suspension, counter suspension and talks of contempt of court against some of the players kicked off over efforts at control of the state assemble’s affairs by members of the two major political parties in the state the ruling All Progressives Congress and opposition’s People’s Democratic Party.
