“Don’t Worry, I Have Osun APC In My Pocket & Am In Control!” Aregbesola Assures Tinubu His Step Brother Would Become Next Gov

Governor of Osun state Rauf Argebesola is very confident his choice would emerge candidate of the All Progressives Congress and go on to become the next governor.

Aregbesola is backing his chief of staff Gboyega Oyetola to become the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress.

Oyetola is the step-brother to powerful politician Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Aregbesola served as a commissioner under Tinubu when the latter was Governor of Lagos state.

And Tinubu is widely acknowledged as the main force behind Aregbesola becoming governor of Osun state.

Many believed after years of grounded support Aregbesola is on the verge of a big payback to Tinubu by making his stepbrother his successor.

The idea to make Oyetola chief of staff is said to originate from Asiwaju.

Sources disclose the agenda is, however, facing very strong opposition from party members who are insisting on a shadow election to determine the party candidate.

The opposition is said to have reached the point of threats of protests votes should the governor’s choice be forced on the party.

Societynow.ng gathered Asiwaju Tinubu and Governor Aregbesola had a talk on the development recently.

And the outgoing governor of Osun state insisted he is in control of the party.

Aregbesola reportedly told Asiwaju the party remains in his “pocket” and that Oyetola would not just become the candidate but become the next governor.

“He told him the party remains in his pocket, that there is no cause for concern” a source stated.

Those who should know disclosed Aregbesola gave same assurances in a private conversation with Asiwaju during the burial ceremony of his mother – Aregbesola’s – last year.

Asiwaju was said to have expressed reservation about the reduced recognition given to Aregbesola on the streets as their convoy move about.

“But Aregbesola insisted that he remains in control of the party and the politics of the state” a source disclosed.

The Osun governor is reportedly sticking to same assurances in face of rising protests within the ranks of his party over alleged plan to foist Oyetola as party’s gubernatorial election.

The Osun gubernatorial election comes up in September 2018.
