Diri Renews Pledges To Brass People During Thank You Visit
to Twon-Brass, headquarters of Brass Local Government Area
Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri has commended the people of Brass Local Government Area for standing by him during the last gubernatorial election, ensuring that their votes counted despite moves to manipulate the results in the area.
Governor Diri said this during a ‘Thank You’ tour to Twon-Brass, headquarters of Brass Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.
“We came here to appreciate you, for standing firm by us even when the manipulation (of results) started. You didn’t mind whether I was APC or PDP, you just wanted the right thing to be done. I’m here to thank and commend you for your courage in defense of our democracy and for insisting that your votes must count to ensure that your performing government of prosperity continues”, he said.
Senator Diri who traveled to Brass Island through the Kiberi river along the ongoing Nembe-Brass road project assured the people of area that the Nembe-Brass road would be completed.
His Royal Majesty, King Diete Spiff, the Natural Ruler of Twon-Brass, while hosting the governor who was in his palace on a courtesy visit welcomed the governor and his entourage, adding that he is one of their own.
Governor Diri later addressed a mammoth crowd of supporters who had thronged the new pavillion at Twon-Brass and assured them of more developmental projects to the council area.
In the Governor’s entourage were the Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, Senator Benson Agadaga representing Bayelsa East, Senator Friday Konbowei Benson representing Bayelsa Central, Hon. (Mrs.) Marie Ebikake representing Nembe/Brass Federal Constituency, Hon. Mitema Obordor representing Ogbia Federal Constituency, Hon. Oforji Oboku, representing Yenagoa/Kolokuma/Opokuma Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Abraham Ingobere, Speaker, Bayelsa State House of Assembly, members of the State Assembly, Commissioners, Chief Solomon Agwana, PDP State Chairman, other party leaders, stakeholders and supporters.
