David Adeleke the 29yr old singer widely known as Davido has become a major influence in the upcoming Osun state gubernatorial election.

The election to determine the next Governor of Osun state is scheduled for July 16, 2022.

Incumbent Governor Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is seeking re-election.

His main challenger in the 2018 gubernatorial election, Senator Demola Adeleke –flag bearer of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) famously known as the Dancing Senator – wants to have another go at the number one position in the state.

Both aspirants go into the fresh battle – with major lessons from their past engagement – having others with similar ambitions, in their political parties, to contend with for the gubernatorial tickets at stake.

But Davido has handed his uncle Demola Adeleke –his father, Deji’s younger brother- a massive campaign material and it is being used ferociously to canvass support within and outside his political party.

“They are using the N250m donation Davido gave to charity to celebrate his birthday as a reference point of how much influence the Adeleke family can bring to bear on governance in Osun state away from state funding and revenues from Federal Government” SocietyNow.Ng learned.

The information at hand revealed that the N250M donation to charity – N200m from friends and N50m of his money – by Davido is being slanted in different ways to sway the people of Osun state, particularly the young persons to the side the dancing Senator.

“Davido and the influence being attributed to him has become a big factor in canvassing support for Demola” SocietyNow.Ng gathered.

The Adeleke family with Osun West (Ede) as political base is regarded as very formidable in terms of wealth and influence in the state.

Davido is the son of Deji, the silent money behind the family’s exploits while the late Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke – known at the grassroots as Serubawon (the fearsome one)- was the political force.

Demola Adeleke, the youngest of the brothers is meant to take over his eldest brother’s position as the family’s face in politics.

And Davido, the father of three – Veronica, Ifeanyi, and Imade – is now ranked one of the family’s heavy hitters to make this happen.

“Nobody can deny the fact that the Adelekes are very well-loved in Ede and the whole of Osun West and other parts of Osun state which was obvious in how Demola won the bye-election to succeed his late brother as Senator in 2017. And he nearly became Governor of Osun state in 2018” SocietyNow.Ng learned.

But for a last-minute deal with Iyiola Omisore, the gubernatorial candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) by Oyetola of the APC – Demola Adeleke was on a clear path to win the 2018 Osun governorship election.

“Lessons have been left and the Adelekes and their crews are showing they are more than ready to give the 2022 gubernatorial contest all it takes to succeed, hence the milking of everything they can out of Davido’s donation and his stature as an immensely loved singer for political purposes” SocietyNow.Ng gathered.

This is, however, not the first time Davido’s stature will be used to campaign for his uncle, the popular entertainer was one of the performers at the rallies held by the Dancing Senator – he has drastically toned down on the unchecked wiggling to musical beats – to galvanize support for his 2018 gubernatorial ambition.

The performances by Davido who turned out in the colors of the PDP attracted plenty of young people and are believed to have boosted the former Senator’s chances at the polls.

Added information revealed that, unlike Oyetola who is up in arms with his predecessor Rauf Aregbesola over his second term ambition and other “issues”, there are strong indications that Demola Adeleke has secured the support of Wole Oke, the only person in Osun state’s chapter of PDP that can stop him from picking the party’s gubernatorial ticket.
